MACC.1.OA.1.1 Use addition and subtraction within 20 to solve word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem. 

Common Core Standards

• CCSS.Math.Content.1.OA.A.2 Solve word problems that call for addition of three whole numbers whose sum is less than or equal to 20, e.g., by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.

ESOL Standards
 15) Evaluate, select, and employ appropriate instructional materials, media, and technology for ESOL at elementary, middle, and high school levels.

In order for intervention to take place the teacher mush first identify the students who are struggling with math. Once those students have been identified the teacher needs to address those students with a variety of strategies. 

Step One - Identify:

• Use Formal and Informal Assessments 
• Integrate Warm-Up Activities 
• Write to Learn
• Assign Application Problems

Step Two - Address: 

• Use Small Groups or Student Pairs
• Differentiate Instruction
• Incorporate Multiple Representations
• Emphasize Real-Life Applications
• Learn About Tutoring Options
• Consider Seating Arrangements
