ESOL Standards
11) Apply essential strategies for developing and integrating the four language skills of listening composition, oral communication, reading, and writing.

STEP BY STEP
  1. Prepare the student for action
  2. List and review the steps
  3. Verbalize the Action
  4. Allow for verbal practice
  5. Celebrate the achievements
  6. Write the reports
  7. Assess student progress
In order to incorporate this strategy into Language Arts/ Writing the teacher will have students research informational books. Require the students to report back on their research along with the steps they used in writing and illustrating the book
This strategy can be used with any activity, as long as the students are able to report back on what they did, and write a summary of the experiences that they had when researching a topic and gathering information. This graphic organizer can be used for students to organize the steps and actions that they did while doing the activity.
